St. Louis of France, whilst speaking to the King of England on the immense sufferings he had to endure when he was in captivity, said to him: “I thank God with my whole heart for the misfortunes that befell me at that time; I am filled with more joy at the thought of the patience that God then granted me, than if He had made me master of the world.”
