By Plinio Corrêa de Oliveira
Let us say that a knight is sent to conquer the island of Rhodes, a stepping stone to conquer the Holy Land. This did not happen historically, it’s only for the sake of argument.
He goes with the idea of conquering the Holy Land, the Holy Sepulcher, etc. – but he goes with courage and valor. He knows he can suffer atrociously, but he faces it because he wants to suffer: He likes to suffer for Our Lord Jesus Christ, for Our Lady, etc. He has no fear.
