Language seems 20 times more important than republican form of government

October 6, 2016

According to the Luxemburger Wort:

The author of Petition 703…requests that the public be asked if they wish to retain the Grand Ducal family, which is “designated by heredity and where citizens have no say in the appointment of a head of state”.

Alternatively, he asks if they would prefer to have a republic, with a president directly elected…

At the time of publishing, it had garnered over 700 electronic signatures.

Meanwhile, the petition calling for Luxembourgish to be made the primary language for all residents in Luxembourg has more than 14,000 signatures and there still remains ten days before it will close.
