The Professor Of Music

January 28, 2021

I used to know a professor of music that lived on a street close to mine. He was an elderly man of German descent.

He was a respectable man, albeit on a lower scale.

His son became a physician and all of his daughters graduated and went out and made a life for themselves; they all had great appreciation for him.

The entire neighborhood esteemed the old professor, and when he would go out of his house, all looked upon him with respect.

Whenever he passed by, the group of young boys that played soccer in the street would stop and maintain an attitude of respect until he withdrew.

This was a notability [characteristic of] the surrounding area, one proportional to the neighborhood.

Happy is the city in which every neighborhood or block has a “great man”, a little patriarch such as this.

When a city or country is well structured, it has numerous patriarchs of this kind.
