The Constable of Bourbon: the common good always comes first

September 20, 2010

The Constable of Bourbon fell mortally wounded in the battle for the conquest of Rome.  Some soldiers saw him stretched out on the ground and started to help him, without recognizing who he was.

Not wanting his wounded condition to discourage them the Constable shouted:

“Bourbon is up ahead! Forward! Push on!”
