The King of Norway today was present for a ceremony at the National Monument at the Akerhus Fortress marking the 75th anniversary of the German invasion of Norway.
King Harald laid a wreath at the monument to those who gave their lives fighting for their country, before saluting and observing a moment’s silence. 96 soldiers from Oslo’s Garrison Company stood to attention during the ceremony, which was also attended by Prime Minister Erna Solberg, President of Parliament Olemic Thommessen…
Norway was invaded by German forces in the morning of April 9, 1940 and was occupied until May 8, 1945.
