The day began with a church service in the Palace Chapel, which the entire royal family attended, as did their guests from overseas: Queen Margrethe II of Denmark and King Carl XVI Gustaf and Queen Silvia of Sweden.
The royal family appeared on the Palace balcony to thank the gathered crowd.
In the late afternoon the Norwegian Government presented the monarch with his jubilee gift, a concert at the University Hall. A dinner was later held at the Royal Palace, with a few photographs released of King with his guests
