One of the things the devil strives to do to influence souls is to present a vision of the universe in which variety and inequality, the most striking sensible elements that God placed in the universe to reflect His image, go unperceived. God imprinted His image upon the universe so that souls might be saved. By removing that image of the universe from the human eye, the devil removes the good that it does to souls and facilitates their eternal damnation. Thus, the devil strives to present as much as possible an egalitarian and standardized cultural panorama.
Every form of variety in human conviviality in institutions, laws and ambiences naturally leads to sanctification. By eliminating variety and establishing uniformity and egalitarianism, this image of God is wiped out. The devil’s purpose is to influence the whole human life with this principle of uniformity, through this egalitarian and standardized cultural vision of the universe, precisely because variety and hierarchy are reflections of God.
